Transitional Housing Program The Transitional Housing Program provides homeless families with temporary housing for a period of up to eighteen months. The program currently operates unites located in Sterling and Dixon.
Transitional Housing does not offer emergency shelter but provides a variety of supportive services to eligible families once they are enrolled in the program.
To be eligible families must have children and be able to document of the following criteria of homelessness.
1. Sleeping in an emergency shelter or place not meant for human habitation. 2. Have a dated, legal eviction notice. 3. Victim of domestic violence 4. Being Discharged from an institution where they have resided for more than 30 consecutive days.
Once enrolled, participants pay rent based on their income and work with a case worker to set and achieve goals for themselves. Goals may include finding employment, increasing level of education, parenting, money management and life skill needed to promote stability and self-sufficiency.
